Thousands of people have taken to the streets of Limerick to catch a glimpse of a giant granny that is visiting for the weekend.

The 25ft pensioner is currently resting in a gigantic wheelchair after trudging through parts of the city this afternoon.

She is the highlight performance of the reign of Limerick as Ireland's first national city of culture.

She will take to her feet again later this afternoon and head for Arthur's Quay.

These locals are patiently waiting for 'granny' to wake up.
