Louth woman Jill Meagher will be remembered at a memorial mass in her native Drogheda this evening.
It will begin with a candlelit walk to St. Peter’s Church where thousands of people are expected to turn out.
A 41-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of the 29-year-old.
Her body was found in Melbourne, Australia last week.
Earlier today those closest to Jill attended her funeral in Melbourne.
Jill’s father, mother, brother, husband and 2 friends spoke to hundreds of people who gathered for her funeral at Fawkner Memorial Park for the hour-long ceremony.
It ended with the release of 29 doves representing one for each year of her life and as a symbol of her free spirit.
Alison Comyn is from the Drogheda Independent.
She told Newstalk that people here in Ireland are keen to show their support for Jill’s relatives.
