For this week's Sunday Paper Review, Shane was joined by former Cabinet minister Pat Rabbitte, Communications Clinic boss Terry Prone, and Sunday Times columnist and former government adviser Cormac Lucey.

The panel started by discussing this weekend's tragedy in Carrickmines, in which ten people lost their lives in a fire at a halting site.

Deputy Rabbitte observed that pending a full forensic examination, "in the interim it is a family tragedy of such a proportion that it bears comparison with the Stardust [tragedy]. We haven't seen anything like it since, thankfully, and this is just appalling.

"Let's hope that it wasn't because of some defect or safety lapse," he added.

They also discussed the reports that David Drumm has been arrested in the US, with Terry observing "he must have lived in a fetal crouch for the last six years. Yes you can establish some kind of normality, but you know your limited amount of money is going to run out, and sooner or later logically the US marshals are going to arrive".

Other stories covered included the continuing speculation about an election date, and of course the very important day for the Irish rugby and football teams ahead...
