Victims of Berkeley balcony collapse named

The victims of the balcony collapse disaster in Berkeley, California have been named.

The Alameda country sheriff coroner has named the following during a press conference:

Ashley Donohoe, 22, Rohnert Park, California
Olivia Burke, 21, Ireland
Eoghan Culligan, 21, Ireland
Niccolai Schuster, 21, Ireland
Lorcan Miller, 21, Ireland
Eimear Walsh, 21, Ireland

At least 7 others were injured in the accident at the apartment complex - they're being treated at a number of different hospitals. 

Denis O'Brien will not be called before Banking Inquiry

Denis O'Brien will not be called to appear before the Banking Inquiry.

Members were given legal advice this evening that inviting the businessman and media owner would be outside the inquiry's terms of reference.

Fianna Fáil's Michael McGrath had wanted to invite Mr O'Brien to give evidence on his experience as a commercial borrower.

Man dies in Donegal fishing accident

A man has died after a fishing accident off the County Donegal Coast.

The fisherman fell overboard from a lobster boat working off Horn Head at around 3.30pm

Hundreds turn out on O'Connell Street for Clerys protest

Laid-off staff at Clerys say the refusal of the store's former owners to hear their concerns is a 'betrayal.'

Hundreds of people turned out in support of the 130 staff and over 300 concession workers at a rally outside the store this afternoon.

It comes after liquidators told laid-off workers there are no funds to pay redundancies, with the full cost to be claimed from the State.

Donald Trump announces bid for US presidency

US business tycoon Donald Trump has announced he will run for the US presidency, confirming earlier speculation.

Mr Trump - who is a Republican - told Newstalk Breakfast last week: "It'll be something - we're going to have a wild time, because the United States should be doing much better than it's doing".
