Last call for large flight information board at Dublin Airport

The large flight information board in the departures area at Dublin Airport's Terminal 1 is being removed over the next four weeks to be replaced with 15 information screens.

DAA says the change is part of an overall programme to modernise the terminal, which is more than 40 years old.

Limerick college website is hacked by group claiming to be Islamic State

A Limerick college says its website will remain down until its security is improved.

The homepage of Central College Limerick was hacked this morning by someone claiming to be from Islamic State (IS).

It carried the message: "This website has been hacked by the Islamic State in Syria....Ireland expect us".

There was also a large ISIS symbol and a photograph of a terrorist holding the ISIS flag.

"He's not exactly an inspirational leader" - Councillor criticises Taoiseach as he quits Fine Gael

A Fingal county councillor has quit Fine Gael and joined Renua, lashing out at the leadership of Enda Kenny.

Dentist Keith Redmond was elected to the local authority in 2014 for Fine Gael.

He previously contested the 2007 general election for the Progressive Democrats.

Renua has yet to select a candidate for the five-seat Dublin-Fingal constituency, leading to speculation that he may be a candidate.

WATCH: The Northern Lights certainly put on a spectacular show last night

The Northern Lights put on spectacular show for parts of the UK and Ireland overnight.

The Aurora was seen across large parts of Ireland, Scotland, northern England and Wales.

It is caused when solar particles are thrown out into space and collide with the Earth's magnetic field.

Forecasters say the current positions of the Earth and Sun may give us a number chances to glimpse the lights over the next few weeks.

As well as the time of year, a "coronal hole" near the Sun's equator had aligned with the Earth and was sending a burst of high-speed solar winds to strike the planet.

POLL: Do you want a general election in November or Spring?

As Taoiseach Enda Kenny is set to unveil party of Fine Gael's manifesto this evening - speculation is rife that a November election could be on the cards.

Many commentators are pointing to the potential 'Giveaway Budget' next week, as evidence that Kenny & Co would like the public to head to the voting poll sooner rather than later.
