In the biggest news in Irish pop music dynasties since the mother from Crystal Swing went solo, fans of the Corrs have been left breathless after the band announce they’re getting back together.
The four band members, Andrea, Caroline, Sharon, and Jim Corr, will release their first album in more than a decade, as well as head off on a tour of the UK and Ireland in 2016. The Corrs will play together in Dublin’s 3Arena, as well as Belfast’s SSE Arena in January.
White Light, the Corrs’ first new album since the 2004 release Borrowed Heaven, will be made available to the public on November 27th.
In addition to playing in Belfast, the Corrs will also play dates in Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, and Manchester.
The band took a prolonged hiatus in 2005, during which the siblings embarked on various solo efforts, including careers in acting, television work, and conspiracy theorising.
Last weekend, the Dundalk family performed in London at the BBC Radio 2 ‘Live in Hyde Park’ event, where they played a number of their best-known hits.
The Corrs remain one of the most successful musical acts Ireland has ever produced, with album sales topping more than 40m units around the world. Tickets for their forthcoming tour will go on sale next Thursday (September 24th) at 9am.
