If you are only getting over your addiction to Candy Crush, there’s a new game in town called: Flappy Bird.
The game has already reached 10 million downloads in the past few weeks alone, with #Flappy trending worldwide in the past 24 hours.
Developed by Vietnam-based developer Doug Nguyen, Flappy Bird was published by .GEARS Studios in May 2013 but has only recently gained popularity, as well as frustrating people the world over.
So how does it work? The aim of the game is to fly a pixellated yellow bird through green pipes by tapping the screen. If the bird (ie. you, the player) hits the pipes, you die.
Sounds pretty easy, I hear you say. Well just start the game yourself and watch how your addiction and anger levels grow. The challenge lies in its simplicity.
Such is the attention Flappy Bird has attracted, it has even been described as an analogy for life:
