A teenager has died after a road crash in Co Cork.

Gardaí attended the single vehicle crash on the N25 Castleredmond in Midleton at around 1.20am on Saturday morning.

A man aged in his late teens was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital with serious head injuries.

However he died on Sunday.

The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision investigators.

The coroner has been notified and a post mortem examination is set to take place.

A file will also be prepared in accordance with the Coroners Act.
