A teenager has been arrested after a post van was stolen in the Lucan area of Dublin.

The van was hijacked in the Rosscourt area earlier today and later found in Co. Meath. It was not occupied at the time.

A post office worker was injured while trying to get it back and has been treated for minor injuries. The van was recovered in Dunshaughlin a short time later.

A 17-year-old was arrested and is being questioned at Lucan Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí at Lucan are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area of Rosscourt Grove in Lucan between 9am and 9.30am, and Dunshaughlin Village in Meath between 10am and 11am.
