Gardaí are seeking the public's assistance after a 15-year-old girl was injured in a County Cork hit-and-run.

The girl was struck by a vehicle at the top of Laundry Hill in Cobh at around 8:40pm last night.

Gardaí said the driver of the car failed to stop and remain at the scene.

The girl was taken to Cork University Hospital and treated for non life-threatening facial injuries.

The car involved is described as dark coloured and is believed to have gone in the direction of Newtown Cobh.
