A teenage boy has died after being pulled from the water at a Dublin beach.

The boy got into difficulty while swimming at Burrow Beach in Sutton yesterday evening.

Gardaí and the Irish Coast Guard responded and the boy was pulled from the water around 7:30pm.

The teen was taken to Beaumont Hospital where his condition was initially described as serious.

He was then transferred to Temple Street Hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.
