The Taoiseach says he has not been asked to go before TDs to explain the resignation of Martin Callinan.
But Enda Kenny says it is up to an Oireachtas committee to decide if it wants to question him over the events that led to the former Garda Commissioner stepping down.
The Taoiseach says he already knows he will be called before the Fennelly Inquiry - which will be investigating the garda tapes affair and the events that led Mr. Callinan to quit.
But he says he cannot say if he will be going before the Oireachtas Justice Committee because nobody has asked him.
The Department of Justice Secretary-General Brian Purcell meanwhile has been asked to before the Justice Committee to answer for his office's handling of recent controversies in An Garda Síochána.
Brian Purcell is expected to attend the committee the week after next, when TDs are expected to ask him about the Guerin report on the handling of garda whistleblowers.
However in his response to the committee, Mr. Purcell said he could not answer questions about the resignation of the former Garda Commissioner - which came hours after Mr. Purcell was sent to meet him by the Taoiseach.
