The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has met the relief workers helping an Irish American community whose homes were ripped apart by hurricane Sandy last year.
Around half of all the residents of Breezy point are of Irish decent, and the Irish Government donated a quarter of a million euro to help with the rebuilding effort.
This morning Enda Kenny attended St Patrick’s day mass with the community, after surveying the damage caused by the storm.
Known as the “Irish Riveria” Breezy Point was one of the areas worst affected by hurricane Sandy.
Thousands of volunteers have given their time and skills to help rebuild the homes of residents.
Earlier this year 30 Irish GAA players travelled to New York to help with the reconstruction of the town.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny met with the residents this morning who thanked him for his visit, and for the financial assistance provided by Ireland.
