A man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of another man in south Dublin on St Stephen's Day in 2013.
Wayne Kennedy of Rathsallagh Park, Shankill, Dublin 18 is also accused of attacking his alleged victim's friend on the same night.
David Spain (26) had returned from Australia to spend Christmas 2013 with his family.
At around 5:30am on St. Stephen's Day, he was found on a road at Rathsallagh Park.
He appeared to have been stabbed and was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
His friend, Sean Turner, was also rushed to hospital with stab wounds.
Mr Kennedy (34) is accused of murdering Mr Spain and assault causing harm to Mr Turner.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges this morning, and a jury of 10 men and two women were sworn in to hear his trial.
The court heard a number of gardaí and witnesses from the Shankill area will be called to give evidence.
The trial is due to get underway on Thursday and will take up to five days.
