Energy supplier SSE Airtricity has become the latest utility company to announce a price decrease for customers.

Its standard household electricity and gas prices will drop by 12% and 10%, respectively, from November 1st.

The company said dual fuel customers would see a price decrease of up to €385 a year.

Electric Ireland announced on Thursday it is to cut its energy prices for the first time in over three and a half years.

It also follows a recent reduction from rivals Energia and Pinergy.

SSE Airtricity Managing Director, Klair Neenan, said they want to give certainty to customers.

"We're acutely aware of the pressure people have been experiencing with the cost of living crisis and we recognise that this continues to be a difficult time for many," she said.

"We recognise that volatility has impacted customers over the past number of years, and we want to provide price certainty for customers who want to manage their energy costs.

"SSE Airtricity is working on solutions that deliver on this promise in the coming weeks," she added.
