Red or white?

They've been your choices for thousands of years, along with Rosé if you don't like the idea of having to choose between the two.

That's all over now though, with a new Spanish winery using a mixture of red grapes, white grapes and good old fashioned science to create Gïk, a new blue wine that is proving to be hugely popular there.

The Gik Instagram account is basically lots of attractive people drinking the product at sunset, while the actual website admits that the thought process behind it was from non-professionals, basically doing something they thought looked and sounded cool.

The website, should you be interested, is full of useful information like what food pairings go best with Gïk, as well as what songs it's creators think best suit the mood of consuming the product (Alt J and James Blake get mentioned).

Or maybe none of that matters really, as the wine-makers themselves say: "Drinking Gïk is not just about drinking blue wine; you are drinking innovation. You are drinking creation. You are breaking the rules and creating your own ones. Thus, we will never impose a way of drinking. Nor will we tell you when and where you have to consume it."

No word yet on if Gïk will be turning these green shores blue any time soon, but there is a store on the website should you wish to be one of the first to try out the new indigo concoction.
