The Irish Cancer Society says the number of people applying to its financial aid scheme has increased by over a third in the past three years.

It says many hospitals are now charging €75 for each round of chemotherapy - putting further pressure on patients.

The charity says it's worried that some people with cancer may stop getting treatment because of the financial burden.

Chief Executive John McCormack says patients are already dealing with the added costs of items such as transport, parking and heating - and this €75 charge is a step too far:
