Leaving Certificate students are finding out their examination results across the country.

Pupils can access their points through the Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) at www.examinations.ie - or in-person at school.

Over 61,000 students will receive their results today.

Of the candidates getting results, 58,056 followed the Established Leaving Certificate programme in 410,162 individual subjects.

One student, Allanah, said: "Awwww very happy: I thought I was just going to pass, but I got a Distinction - so very happy".

Another student said: "I feel I got on very, very well.

"Before going in I was very nervous about what I got, but after looking at this now I'm very proud of myself".

Another said they were "really happy, really excited as well. I can't get over the result".

While another simply added: "Good, I passed - very happy".

These students from Scoil Mhuire in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary said it's a huge relief.

"I didn't sleep all night, and then I woke up and my hands were shaking opening the results - it was horrible", one said.

"I was so nervous, I could just feel my stomach and then just the relief of seeing what I wanted there - and better than what I wanted - was amazing.

"I'm hoping to do law down in Limerick", another added.

What happens next?

Options are available to students to view or appeal aspects of their exams.

There are two viewing services this year: in school for subjects marked on paper, and online for subjects marked online.

The application process is the same for both services.

This can be made through the Candidate Self Service Portal between 5pm on Tuesday September 6th and 8pm on Wednesday September 7th.

While applications to appeal can similarly be made between 9am on Saturday September 10th and 12pm on Monday September 12th.
