No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí responded to reports of dangerous driving just after 7.30pm on Monday, and saw two vehicles driving erratically.

They say the Garda vehicle was "deliberated rammed" on a number of occasions during the incident.

The two Gardaí in the patrol car at the time were not injured, but have subsequently reported unfit for duty.

They are receiving support from their colleagues and local Garda management.

A counselling service has also been provided if required.

Gardaí continue to appeal to any member of the public who may have witnessed this incident, or who has any information, to contact Ballyfermot Garda station on 01-666-7200, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666-111 or any Garda station.
