SIPTU has rejected what it says is a ‘derisory’ offer by Aer Lingus and the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) to resolve the €750 million deficit in their staff pension funds.
A strike at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports was narrowly avoided on Monday after unions and management agreed to resume talks.
According to SIPTU Aer Lingus has offered to provide between 9 and €15 million to resolve the pension crisis while the DAA has agreed to provide up to €43 million.
The trade union has now written to the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) seeking its help over the issue.
It says 15,000 members at Dublin, Shannon and Cork airports are affected.
SIPTU officials said last week that they were not hopeful on finding a resolution in the dispute.
Union organiser Dermot O’Loughlin says they are still a long way off an agreement.
