Gardaí have confirmed that two people are dead after a multi-vehicle crash in Co. Kildare.

A car and a motorbike collided close to Athy. It happened on the Athy to Ballitore Road this afternoon.

The male motorcylist who was in his late 20s and a woman in her 80s - who was a passanger in the car - have been killed.

While the driver of the car, a man in his 80s, is seriously injured.

All 3 have been taken to Naas General Hospital. The road is closed for a forensic examination.
