An explosion has hit a tourist bus in Egypt close to the Pyramids of Giza, injuring a number of people.

Local media reports it happened as the bus passed a new museum close to the pyramids.

It's believed a device went off near the museum fence.

At least 16 people are reported to have been injured.

Nobody is believed to have been killed.

Security officials say most of those who were hurt were foreign nationals.

Officials told the Associated Press news agency that there were 25 people on board the bus, mostly from South Africa.

Pictures posted on social media show a damaged bus with several windows blown out, as well as a number of injured people.
