A security guard is recovering in hospital after being viciously assaulted in Coolock in Dublin last night.

It happened at around 8.50pm at the Northside Shopping Centre, when he was sprayed in the face with an unknown substance and stabbed in the leg.

The victim, in his mid 20s, was rushed to Beaumont Hospital where his injuries are said to be not life-threatening.

No arrests have been made and gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them Coolock garda station.
