Science Week, supported by Science Foundation of Ireland, will run from November 8th to 15th. Like so many other festivals and celebrations this year, the events will be hosted online with interactive workshops, discussions, and quizzes suitable for all ages

The theme for Science Week 2020 is ‘Choosing our Future’ focusing on how science can improve our lives in years to come, and in present-day. Science has been at the forefront of our minds as we navigate the Covid 19 pandemic and the events will explore how it can positively impact all aspects of life including climate, health and technology. Here’s a taster of some of the events on offer.

Aspire with Abbott, taking place on Thursday November 12th, is an innovative STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) virtual exhibition. If you would like to try something a little different, try The Mirror Trap on Saturday November 14th. Described as a horror story based on psychology and quantum physics, the ‘headphone play’ is 45 minutes long and has left past audiences feeling unsettled and deeply moved by its content. The play will be immediately followed by a Q&A with creator Simon Watts to explore what you have experienced.

If you’re looking for something a little bit lighter, you can flex those science muscles and take part in an interactive quiz. Jonny Berliner and Simon Watt bring their UniverSilly Challenged Quiz to Science Week on Thursday November 12th where you can compete with grown-ups from all over the country! Or join Phil Smyth’s Pick Your Brain on Friday November 13th for questions on a wide range of topics and a chance to win great prizes.

Science Week promises seven days of great virtual experiences to suit all ages. For a full run down of events, head to www.scienceweek.ie
