Today

Bright spells and scattered showers this morning.

Mainly dry over the northern half of Ulster.

This afternoon, heavy rain will develop in the south and spread northwards over Munster, Leinster and Connacht this evening with a risk of flooding.

Highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees with moderate southwest winds.

Tonight

Early tonight, persistent rain will extend up over Ulster.

The rain will become lighter and more showery during the night and will clear from the western half of the country by morning.

Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.

National weather warning

A status yellow rainfall warning is in place for Munster, Carlow, Kilkenny and Wexford.

There will be heavy rain at times with amounts of 25 to 40 mm and a risk of spot flooding.

Rain will be heaviest from this afternoon to tonight.
