A sailor has been hospitalised with suspected spinal injuries after a rescue operation on Dublin Bay this morning.
The man was trapped under the mast of a 33-foot yacht which snapped in the wind during a regular Sunday race.
The boat was midway between Dun Laoghaire's West Pier and the South Bull Wall when the accident occurred, and rigging prevented the crew from using the engine.

The coast guard helicopter was used to airlift the victim to a waiting ambulance.
