Russia says it expects the Syrian President to honour a ceasefire due to begin later.

Bashar al Assad has vowed to regain control of the whole country from rebels fighting against him.

The Syrian Centre for Policy Research puts the number of people who have died since the war began at 470,000.

Joanne Liu, president of Médecins Sans Frontières has made this appeal:

"Attacks on health facilites and other civilian targets must stop and be subject to independent investigation.

We repeat our demand that bombing stop as well in other areas like the besieged."
