RTÉ is to move a number of its regional operations into the local Institutes of Technology.
Operations in Sligo, Dundalk, Galway, Athlone and Waterford will move into the nearby Institutes.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology organisations and the broadcaster is to be formally approved by the GMIT governing body next week.
Meanwhile RTÉ offices in Cork and Limerick are to be maintained.
RTÉ says all regional correspondents will continue to work from their existing regions.
And while some staff roles will be reviewed there will be no job losses as a result of these changes.
The State broadcaster says the review will result in a saving of over €1 million on infrastructural costs.
The new plan will begin from January 2013.
As part of the re-structuring journalists have already been re-deployed from Cork, Limerick and Belfast to Dublin.
Nuacht staff have also moved from Donnybrook in Dublin to Connemara.
