Two men have been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries in Cork city.

Gardai said five homes were burgled between midnight and 5am on Friday. Cash and property were stolen from a number of the houses.

The robbers got into one of the homes by pretending to be Gardaí.

Two men, one in his 40s and the other in his 20s have been arrested and are being held at Togher Garda Station.

Members of the public are warned not to let anyone claiming to be a garda into their home unless they can prove who they are.
