The rise in popularity of a giantess kink is down to people “exhausting other porn categories” during COVID according to a leading sex educator and dominatrix.
On Moncrieff today, Clarity Mills said searches for the kink have increased by 1,900% over the last five years.
Macrophilia, which is a sexual attraction towards giants, was the most searched-for fetish on Google in 2023.
Ms Mills said it’s something that has been around for thousands of years.
“In mythology, for millennia, the idea of really large women and giantesses, 50ft or taller, has captured the imagination of people and has been sexualised,” she said.
The dominatrix said its recent popularity could be due to people’s porn-viewing habits during COVID lockdowns.
“I personally believe that during COVID people got to watch a good bit of porn and indulge in fantasy spaces more than they had time to previously,” said Ms Mills.
“My personal anecdotal theory is that people have been exhausting other porn categories and are now into the niche fetish spaces as a result.”
Societal changes
Ms Mills suggests that societal changes have also played a role.
“They think the reason why there has been such an increase in Macrophilia as a kink specifically is because as women’s roles in society are changing,
“We’re on the fourth wave of feminism right now and the role of genders in the bedroom and how it influences people’s fetishes is changing.
“It's changing to become more female dominant; you’re seeing a huge rise in female domination in general and Macrophilia is related to this.”
She added that women account for “0.1% of the total” of those interested in the fetish.
Resident Evil
Ms Mills said a video game character from 2021 can also be credited with sparking demand for giantess searches.
“When the last Resident Evil game came out, it was set in Romania where there was a character called Lady Dimitrescu who was an 11 or 12ft tall mother vampire,” she said.
“She was a very powerful fatale character and the minute that game came out there was a huge rise in giantess fantasies and cosplay.
“They were all sexualising this lady, and that sort of captured the imagination of people.
“Also, in the world of anime, giantesses have been a fixture there for decades really, but this game brought it to the forefront.”
Ms Mills added that TikTok and Reddit are two platforms that giantess content has gained popularity.
