Brendan Ogle of the Right2Water group has said he is unsure if the Right2Change group will put forward candidates in the general election.
A large scale demonstration in Dublin city centre on Saturday saw tens of thousands protest to show their opposition to water charges. With a general election drawing closer there has been talk of the possibility fo Right2Change – whose roots are very firmly in the anti-water charges movement – might expand and look to stand candidates.
Speaking to Newstalk Breakfast this morning, Ogle said: “There is a huge appetite for a broad cased coalition which delivers a new Ireland after the election. There are a lot of people who have got involved in this campaign at community level,” he added, saying that any decisions on standing candidates would be taken after a 4-6 week period of travelling around the country for ‘town hall meetings’ and gauging public sentiment on a variety of issues.
