The remains of two powerful hurricanes are set to hit Irish shores by the weekend.

Met Éireann says there will be unsettled weather with ex-Hurricanes Lee and Maria in the Atlantic "making details uncertain" over Ireland.

Saturday will begin with a lot of dry weather but with some showers and rain spreading North later.

It will be wet overnight with some heavy downpours in places and the risk of spot flooding.

Sunday will be a blustery, windy day with heavy showers, although the showers will ease off later in the afternoon.

Sunday night and Monday will bring further outbreaks of rain for many parts with heavy downpours and risk of spot flooding.

Currently Hurricanes Lee and Maria are in the Atlantic to the east of Canada.

Lee is a category two status storm and Maria is a category one.

But as expected they will be downgraded as they move eastwards towards Ireland.

Lee may become entrained within another larger weather system arriving later on Saturday and into Sunday.

After that Maria looks like it might take a more southerly track through Sunday night and into Monday.
