After Rebecca Black went viral as a result of her song Friday back in 2012, she seemingly totally disappeared and dropped off the radar for most people. 

Aside form a quick cameo in a Katy Perry video after her own song became a surprise hit, Black has been relatively quiet, at least when it comes to releasing new songs, so you could call her a one-hit wonder, of sorts. 

As it turns out, that might not be fair, as Black recently did an in-depth interview with Buzzfeed in which she spoke about the effect that the video had on her life since, but also what she has been up to in the interim. 

Talking about the fallout from her sudden rise to internet fame, she said that "It would be great if I could eliminate some of the backlash and hate and dealing with death threats at the age of 14. But at the same time, I don't know if it was any different if I'd be in the same place I am now, and if I’d have the same opportunities."

Black is now 18-years-old, and has her own YouTube channel with around a million subscribers where she talks about style, life as a teenager, and the odd time about her ambitions to continue her music career.

When it comes to music, she's hoping to emulate only one woman: Taylor Swift. "She's the best businesswoman in music right now. She's killing it", Black said, and the demos of her new material apparently have the sound of something that Taylor herself would produce. 

Will she make a success of it? Only time will tell, but she's certainly given herself another quick window of opportunity to capitalise on some renewed interest in what she's been up to since we last heard from her.
