The forecast is quite wintry for August, so raincoats are highly recommended.

Showers will become widespread this morning and could turn heavy and thundery at times. Those living in western and northern counties will see the worst of it.

Leave the umbrellas at home though as it's also very windy for this time of year, with southwesterly gusts increasing to gale force at times.

The temperatures will remain in the high teens today, with highs of 15 to 19 degrees, and it will be mildest in the southeast.

Tonight should see drier weather for most of the country, except for those living in northern and western counties.

The strong winds will also decrease and temperatures will fall to between 11 and 14 degrees celsius.

Outlook

Tomorrow will be pretty mixed with scattered showers and some sunny intervals. Those showers should die out by evening though, with winds decreasing also.

And temperatures will be much the same at 12 to 20 degrees.
