Pat Stacey has been writing in today’s Herald stating that RTE is showing 20 repeats tonight and questioned what exactly our licence fee is going towards in the summer months.

Mr Stacey gave a run down of the programmes on Newstalk Lunchtime which are new episodes and not repeats. These included just the news, the weather, the angelus, Fair City and the lotto.

TV3’s director of content Lynda Mc Quaid also spoke to the show and ran through some of the content that her station runs across the day.

Mr Stacey suggests that the TV licence should be cut to take into account the summer months which have less original programming.
