Thousand are expected to attend today's rally while Pro Choice group, Action on X, is expected to stage a silent counter-demonstration.

It comes as the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill comes before the Dail again next week, and Health Minister James Reilly is set to table a number of amendments to it.

Yesterday, the Taoiseach promised a number of amendments to the abortion legislation.

The comments from Enda Kenny came as more than 100 proposed changes were already lodged ahead of the report stage of the legislation.

Just 17 out of 89 amendments at committee stage were accepted by the Health Minister. And already dozens of changes - many from the rebel TDs who lost the whip - have been put down.
