President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina have tested positive for COVID-19.

Áras an Uachtaráin says both the President and Mrs Higgins displayed mild symptoms on Friday morning.

They both took antigen tests, which returned positive results.

A statement says they will be isolating for the next seven days.

"The President while isolating is continuing to work from home", the statement adds.
