Post mortem 'to determine course of investigation' in Co Louth

A post mortem is to be carried out later on the body of a man who died following an apparent assault in Co Louth.

Gardaí have said they are investigating all the circumstances of his death.

The man, aged in his 40s, was discovered with serious injuries at a house in Rathmullan Park, Drogheda last Thursday December 22nd.

He subsequently passed away on Christmas Eve at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

The office of the State Pathologist and local coroner was notified, with a post mortem examination to be conducted later today.

Gardaí have said the results of this will assist in determining the course of the investigation.

A full technical examination of the scene at Rathmullan Park has been conducted by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone that can assist with this investigation to come forward.
