Pope Francis has this evening arrived in the United States for the first time.

The Pope has this evening flown into a Maryland military base to begin a visit in which he is to address Congress and the United Nations in New York.

The Pontiff has spent the last three days in Cuba, with hundreds of thousands of people turning out to see him during his visit.
