It happened at the Glenavy Road in Moira, Co Down on Saturday morning shortly after 3:00am.
It is reported that a number of men used a digger removed the machine.
The digger, which is believed to have been taken from a location close to the property, was set on fire following the incident.
The roof of the garage was also set alight, as the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene.
Both the digger and the roof of the garage were extensively damaged.
It is the third such theft in as many days.
Police in Co Antrim are investigating the theft of two ATM machines during the week.
The PSNI has said enquiries are continuing and they are investigating a possible link between this incident and an ATM theft from the Ballymena Road in Antrim.
