Hundreds of passengers have escaped without injury after a plane engine caught fire during an emergency landing in Singapore.

Singapore Airlines Flight SQ368 had been travelling from Changi Airport to Milan when it was forced to return to Singapore due to an engine oil warning message.

In a statement, the airline says: "The aircraft right engine caught fire after it touched down at around 6.50am. The fire was put out by airport emergency services."

There were 222 passengers on 19 crew on board at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries reported.

One passenger told BBC that they had been in the air for around an hour "before we began to smell gas".

Singapore Airlines says they will be co-operating fully with authorities during investigations into the incident.

The Singapore newspaper The Straits Times shared video footage of the incident, captured by a passenger.
