Around 400 people decided to hop into the cold waters of the Liffey in Dublin yesterday for the annual Liffey Swim, and it made for quite a sight in the capital.
The 2.2km course starts at Rory O’Moore Bridge near Heuston Station and goes down to the Custom House, and people were perched along every bridge to cheer on the participants.
Donncha O’Siadhail of the Swim4Life Club won the men's race, and Orla Walsh from the ESB Swimming Club finished first among the women.
There were plenty of others involved however, all of whom were happy to brave the cold water to get a brisk, invigorating swim in.
Participants were treated to a fresh water shower after they emerged from the water too, just to be sure.
