Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after an aggravated burglary in the Swords area of Dublin.

It happened at Kettle's Lane on Friday morning between 3.00am and 4.00am.

Three armed men entered a house, demanded money and assaulted the home owner - a man aged in his early 80s.

The man was taken to Beaumont Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The three male offenders were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas - at least two of them spoke with Dublin accents.

They fled with a small amount of cash - however their direction and mode of transport was unknown.

The scene was preserved and technically examined.

Gardaí say no arrests have been made and the investigation is on-going.

They are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to contact Malahide garda station on 01-6664-600, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
