The 100 new members of staff will bring the total number of people employed by the company in Ireland to 3,000 in 2018.

Paypal has operations in Dublin and in Dundalk, Co Louth.

Louise Phelan, Vice President of Global Operations for Europe, Middle East and Africa for PayPal said: "This announcement is a strong endorsement of the quality of teammates we find here in Ireland.

Career opportunities at our diverse and multicultural offices in Ireland have never been better. We are particularly proud of the fact that many of the roles we create are suitable for unemployed people who we recruit from the live register."
