The directors of Rehab Group are to hold a special meeting next month to discuss whether to disclose details of the salary of its Chief Executive, Angela Kerins.

The Chairman of the Group, Brian Kerr, says the remuneration of the CEO is a matter for the Rehab Group board - and since the last voluntary disclosure of her salary in April 2011, there has been no formal request from any relevant authority to do so again.

In a statement issued this evening Mr. Kerr said the matter is one for the Board and not Ms. Kerins - and some of the pressure that has been placed on her and her family has been entirely unfair and very personal.

The special board meeting will take place on February 17th.

Meanwhile Mr. Kerr is calling on the Taoiseach to remove the prize cap on charitable lotteries, which would allow them to compete with the National Lottery and other lotteries operating in Europe.

Earlier the Tánaiste all but called for Ms. Kerins to make her salary public.

Eamon Gilmore says there is no reason for the salary to be kept private. Aengus O'Snodaigh of Sinn Féin made the call for transparency in the Dáil earlier.

The Oireachtas Health Committee meanwhile has appealed for calm and is pleading with the public to continue to support charities.

It is in the wake of the controversies around the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) and Rehab - as well as pay and top-ups in some services.

The Committee is now to ask all charities to appear before them to explain pay, fundraising activities and and costs.

A motion was agreed at the Committee earlier. Chairman Jerry Buttimer explained more to Newstalk Lunchtime.

Meanwhile a former Chief Executive of Rehab lotteries says he would be willing to appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to answer questions about the running of the organisation. John McGuire is also a former fundraising director for the group.

John McGuire told Newstalk Breakfast earlier he would have no problem answering politicians questions if he is asked to do so.
