The concert is being run by the Global Citizen movement and the World Health Organisation.

Global Citizen spokesperson Michael Sheldrick said it is all about “bringing people together, encouraging social cohesion, explaining why measures like social distancing are important and also giving people a way to take back agency and to contribute and support health workers on the front line.”

The concert was curated in collaboration with Lady Gaga and features Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Lizzo, Elton John and Hozier.

It gets underway at 6pm and the full line-up is available here.

US TV personalities Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon will host the show which will also feature stories from the nurses and doctors on the frontline of the coronavirus outbreak.

Proceeds from the concert will go to the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO.
