One person has been taken to hospital following two house fires in Drogheda this morning.

The male victim, who sustained a head injury, escaped a blaze at a home on Patrick Street at around 8am.

It is understood he is also being treated for smoke inhalation.

Earlier, a woman was forced to flee after a house on George's Street caught fire.

The blaze, which broke out at around 4am, is understood to have badly damaged the building.
