Gardaí have confirmed that the victim of last night's fatal car crash in County Kildare was a man in his 60s.

It is believed his van hit a ditch and overturned at Cush on the Kildangan to Athy road at around 9.30pm.

He was the only occupant in the vehicle.

His body has been taken to the morgue at Naas General Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out today.

A forensic exam in underway at the scene this morning, and part of the road remains closed this morning.
