He's been addressing a multi-faith memorial service for victims, two days after Adam Lanza gunned down 20 children and six adults at the elementary school in Newtown.
His remarks, appeared to set a new mission for his presidency of curtailing rampant gun violence, however he did not propose specific solutions.
In a poignant ceremony President Obama slowly read the names of the 26 people shot dead on Friday.

He said these tragedies must end, and to end them we must change.
