Family of Nóra Quoirin says she has never wandered off or got lost

The family of missing teenager Nóra Quiorin says she has never wandered off or got lost.

15-year-old Nóra has been missing in Malaysia since the early hours of last Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, a Garda Liasion Officer has been deployed to Kuala Lumpur to assist the search effort.

Protests suspended as beef farmers and meat industry group agree to talks

Protests at meat processing plants will be suspended pending talks, the Agriculture Minister has confirmed.

Threatened legal proceedings by the industry against protesters will also be suspended.

Beef farmers have been picketing outside meat factories for 12 days, protesting over the prices they are getting for their animals.

Irish-based Ryanair pilots vote in favour of industrial action

Irish-based Ryanair pilots have served notice of industrial action in their dispute over pay and working conditions.

The Fórsa trade union said 94% of the pilots backed the action.

The union is required to give the airline at least one week’s notice. It said it will outline its plans within seven days unless the airline agrees to union pay proposals by this coming Monday.

Swimming bans have been put in place at eight Dublin beaches after the latest overflow at the Ringsend Water Treatment Plant sent wastewater flowing into Dublin Bay.

Dublin City Council said Irish Water had informed it of a “significant overflow” into the River Liffey from the storm storage tanks at the plant

The utility said the overflow was due to the significant rainfall over the Dublin area last night.

Couple charged over alleged serious assault on nine-year-old girl in Dublin

A couple has appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged assault on a nine-year-old girl at a house in north county Dublin last month.

The court heard that, given the nature of the proceedings, there are reporting restrictions on the case and the couple cannot be named.

The girl was taken to hospital after emergency services were called by Gardaí to the house in Dublin on the night of July 2nd.
